Miami put up 86 opening half points against the Grizzlies

Miami Heat earned a decisive 146 to 114 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial NBA match since guard Rozier was detained for suspected unlawful gambling.

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested as part of a sweeping FBI probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals contest the allegations.

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' by Arrests

Speaking about the detentions for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "very upset" by the events of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and its fans than the integrity of the competition," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner also mentioned an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he participated for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.

"We investigated that situation and were open regarding it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the NBA can't do.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they announced yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in justice to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance here between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
