The rising star has impressive social media following
The young golfer will have plenty of high-profile backers when she starts her LPGA debut later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to a former US president, was granted a sponsor's invitation to compete at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, operates multiple golf courses and frequently plays against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I shouldn't elaborate but we play tight competitions," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He essentially advised me to compete and have fun," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's just an ordinary family member. He's not attending this weekend. He's occupied with running the country, making him rather occupied."
As an amateur, the golfer has played in only three events in 2024 and holds ranking 461 in AJGA rankings.
But she's able to seek guidance from 15-time major champion, who is dating Vanessa.
"He represents the best player worldwide," the young golfer said.
"And he's a superior individual. He told me to go out there, relax, and go with the flow."
The golfer will compete against some of top competitors in women's golf at the competition, such as second-ranked the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Officials commented that involving Kai exposes golf to new audiences, especially among youth audiences.
The young star boasts millions of followers and recently launched a personal apparel and wellness label.
Her first tee time at 5:30 PM GMT.
