Unveiling a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered plenty of interesting independent titles. But, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is truly a turd trying to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
How you interact is easy to grasp: just use a single jump button. Across one hundred fifty levels, encounter boss fights and access a store to purchase outfits for your dung hero.
Execute your jumps with caution, as a wrong move requires beginning again. Jump on bubbles to propel yourself upward, navigate disappearing platforms, and activate buttons to unlock secret routes. Earn currency for buying more difficult game content as things ramps up.
Graphically, the game features neon level designs and a killer music score. Its minimalist graphics featuring shifting basic polygons could recall players of old favorites like Earthbound.
Even though difficult to name previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, gaming have long incorporated scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. And of course, fecal references appears extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already garnered significant recognition, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on Steam this November.
